Logistics Analyst

The Logistics Analyst is responsible for general administration functions around the import of parts for OEM production by various transport modes


KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:

 Freight Co-Ordination:

  • Compile all shipping information received into a consolidated Excel spreadsheet.
  • Ensure that Import documentation is filled to be filed accurately and timeously.
  • Update & distribute shipment tracking schedule daily and inform relevant parties of delays
  • Ensure shipping data is uploaded into operating system.
  • Work with freight forwarders to ensure shipments are collected.
  • Continually review freight costs & transportation rates.
  • Analyse all shipping data and recommend alternatives when necessary.
  • Co-ordinate the delivery of containers with warehouse receiving to optimise standing time of containers and to prevent any demurrage cost.
  • Ensure that all customs cleared invoices are sent timeously to warehouse receiving.
  • Consolidate all shipping info and report to Logistics Co-ordinator.
  • Ensure that the buying team queries are resolved accurately and timeously.

 Administration:

  • Review invoices daily and send for approval.
  • Track and review all freight cost on a daily /weekly/ monthly basis
  • Compile and monitor all monthly cost vs budget and report on any variances.
  • Update dashboard with on time measure. Publish shipping on time reports weekly.
  • Set-up and attend regular meetings with shipping and clearing agents.
  • Update meeting minutes and send to all relative parties.
  • Ensure shipping documents are in order and timeously received / issued.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum qualification: Grade 12 / NQF level 4 qualification
  • Ideal qualification: Diploma in Logistics
  • At least 2 years’ working experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior stores / logistics and/or purchasing experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Prior shipping import/ export experience.
  • Advanced Excel advantageous.
