Procurement Officer

The Procurement Officer reports to the Procurement Coordinator on all activities related to supplier management, cost management, procurement of BOM parts and production consumables. The Procurement Officer will assist the Procurement Coordinator to continuously identify and evaluate cost saving projects.


KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:

Supplier Management:

  • Source, qualify and record new suppliers under the supervision of the Procurement Coordinator
  • Maintain designated suppliers with regular meetings, site visits and costing analyses
  • Ensure all procurement visitors are compliant with Health and safety requirements
  • Maintain records of designated suppliers in terms of contracts, qualification documents, cost analyses, risk analyses and NCR’s
  • Maintain database of warranty terms & conditions for BOM parts
  • Update and maintain designated supplier contact details

Cost Management:

  • Perform alternative supplier costing comparisons as requested by Procurement Coordinator
  • Continuously identify opportunities for volume-based purchasing via supplier consolidation
  • Investigate invoice discrepancies under guidance of Procurement Administrator
  • Procurement of BOM parts and production consumables:
  • Provide and manage database on prequalified products
  • Provide list of prequalified suppliers to all stakeholders
  • Provide a procurement resource on new project development
  • Create stock codes via the Technical Quote Request process on Flowcentric
  • Obtain quality and compliance approval of all parts / products
  • Liaise with design on DVO’s and ECR’s
  • Qualify products from a commercial perspective

Project Management:

  • Continuously identify cost saving projects
  • Evaluate relevant cost saving projects
  • Report on cost saving opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum qualification: A relevant Diploma in Engineering, Logistics, Finance or Marketing is preferred
  • Ideal qualification: Relevant BSc / BTech Degree / Advanced Diploma in Logistics, Finance or Marketing.
  • Experience: 2-3 years’ in Supply Chain Management, including account management and financial documentation.

  • Excellent working knowledge in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams etc.).
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to priories.
  • Ability to present organized and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience.
  • Be flexible, adaptable, able and willing to modify activities and direction with an ever-changing business environment.
  • Knowledge of boat building-Techniques and process would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of technical measurements, procedures with the ability of assessing technical tenders.
  • Ability to take full responsibility and accountability as per the scope of work.
  • Must be a diligent person with a high regard of mutual respect.
