Quality Engineer

We are looking to appoint a Quality Engineer in the Quality Department. You will report to the Quality Engineering Manager. You will fulfil the necessary requirements within the Department to meet the Company’s objectives by ensuring that operations are performing optimally from a quality, cost and delivery perspective; using the right tools, materials and processes. An important part of the job involves designing the company's quality standards and testing processes against those criteria.


Corrective action:

  • Determine, investigate and resolve non-conformances that lead to losses / waste and in quality, cost and delivery schedule attainment.
  • Facilitate and support workstation and line Quick Response Continuous Improvement (QRCI)& Support QRCI
  • Ensure the corrective action processes in R&C are operating optimally through the necessary control, training and facilitation
  • Ensure defects are described correctly to facilitate resolution.
  • Guide containment activities.
  • Facilitate proper root cause analysis through using the correct tools and techniques (5 whys, fault tree analysis, Ishikawa diagram.
  • Ensure corrective actions that eliminate root causes are implemented.
  • Ensure preventive actions are taken and transferred to other factories.
  • Ensure all documents, procedures and instructions are updated
  • Train members as appropriate.


  • Support the Design and Engineering departments in ensuring that new boat launches are successful through proper planning, verification and implementing lessons learned.
  • Conduct project phases & milestone reviews.
  • Compile and review RACI checklist plan for new projects.
  • Conduct Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA) to prevent potential future failures.
  • Compile Control plans to specify checks and controls to detect / prevent failures.
  • Compile Standard Operating Procedures to guide members in the correct manufacturing and assembly practices.
  • Verify pre-production parts through measurement and analysis to ensure all errors are eliminated prior to start of volume production.
  • Ensure all project steps are taken to produce a product that is ready for serial production 

Management system implementation & Audit

  • Support the implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS) to support Strategy Deployment, improve customer satisfaction.
  • Improve quality, delivery & cost by quality strategy deployment, process analysis, risk management & continuous improvement.
  • Map processes.
  • Determine risks in processes and between process interfaces and mitigate.
  • Audit processes to determine compliance to procedures, effectiveness of processes and opportunities for improvement.

Analysis of quality performance and costs 

  • Implement measurement systems and processes in identify losses and opportunities for improvement and savings.
  • analyse and manipulate information / data in order to determine efficiency, effectiveness of all processes.

Manufacturing Support 

  • Provide input to better manufacture parts or products, or deliver services.
  • Assist in driving down quality related costs.
  • Set up and publish visual aids / displays – Quality alerts.

Continuous Improvement 

  • Facilitate change, driving change and achieve sustainable results.
  • Formulate, plan and implement continuous improvement activities to ensure on time, on budget and quality performance.
  • Ensure best operating practices are implemented and continuous improvement embedded within all functions.
  • Ensure savings targets are achieved by evaluating gaps and identifying solutions.
  • Implement applicable cost control programs and measures.


  • Compile reports and graphs to management to inform the effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
  • Compile report to management to inform the status of savings, audit trends, performance data etc. 

Ad hoc

  • Perform ad hoc tasks as and when required.


  • Minimum Qualification: Engineering Diploma (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Mega-tronics)
  • Idea Qualification: BTech Quality / Btech Engineering /Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • A minimum of 2 Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment


  • Quality drive with attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and ability to work in a group (good facilitator)
  • High level of analytical ability and a skilled problem solver
  • Core Skills knowledge (SPC, MSA, APQP, FMEA)
  • Create and maintain FMEA’s and Control
  • Be flexible, adaptable, able and willing to modify activities and direction with an ever-changing business environment.
